For almost 40 years, Lee Valley Tools has been a go-to store for American and Canadian gardeners. The reason is clear; they have really cool garden gear! They know that the right tools make gardening easier, faster, and more comfortable. In fact, many Lee Valley garden tools are designed in-house, so they can ensure the best-quality products for their customers. To celebrate the best of gardening, we’ve teamed up with Lee Valley to spotlight some of our favorite garden tools and products.
Let us help you play Santa for the gardeners on your holiday list. Below you’ll find some of our favorite Lee Valley products—we know you’ll love them just as much as we do! And, for even more holiday inspiration, check out Lee Valley’s terrific online gift catalog.
Our favorite Lee Valley garden tools
From our bug-loving horticulturist, Jessica Walliser: Hose End Sprayer
“Each gardening season, I grow several dozen containers of edibles and ornamentals. Before I discovered this handy hose-end sprayer from Lee Valley Tools, I was measuring and mixing watering can after watering can of fish emulsion every time I fertilized them.
But with this sprayer, the liquid fertilizer is distributed directly to my plants along with the irrigation water. I fill the sprayer with fish emulsion and then set the dial for the amount of fertilizer to be distributed with the water. I hook it up to my hose, press the trigger, adjust the spray pattern, and fertilize away. So easy!”

From our ornamental plant aficionado, Tara Nolan: Grow-Light Indoor Garden
“When I first started sowing seeds, I put my trays in a sunny window and hoped for the best. Seedlings would grow, but I always found them to be rather spindly and delicate. I don’t currently have anywhere to put a full-sized grow light setup, so when I saw the Grow-Light Indoor Garden in the Lee Valley catalog, I bought it right away.
The kit comes with full-spectrum grow lights that can be lowered and raised as the plants grow. The whole system was easy to assemble and it even came with four containers that fit perfectly underneath. A special capillary mat under the containers wicks water up from a reservoir to water plants from the bottom. This is a great gift for anyone with a small space or new to growing from seed.”

From our year-round vegetable growing expert, Niki Jabbour: Solitary Pollen Bee Nest and Row Cover Kit
“Ok, I’m a cheater, I picked two of my favorite Lee Valley garden tools! I’m lucky, though, as I have a Lee Valley store in my hometown and I find myself there at least once a month. In fact, I got my first row cover from that Lee Valley store many years ago when I began experimenting with season extension. I still rely on Lee Valley products, like the Row Cover Kit, for my fall and winter garden. This handy kit comes with 10 metal hoops and a six-foot by 50-foot piece of plastic. It’s great for covering cool- and cold-tolerant veggies, like spinach, Asian greens, mesclun, kale, and lettuce. I’ve also found it super handy in spring when it’s time to transplant tender pepper, tomato, melon, eggplant, and artichoke seedlings. It pre-warms the soil and provides shelter from unexpected dips in temperature.”
“My second item is the Solitary Pollen Bee Nest, which I bought because I wanted to provide habitat to native pollinators in and around my veggie garden. There are a lot of these types of products on the market, but I chose this one when I saw it was approved by the Xerces Society (the international, nonprofit organization that protects wildlife through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitat).
This bee nest has various sized openings to accommodate different species, and when I noticed that my first tenants had moved it, I jumped for joy!”
