Our favorite Lee Valley garden tools
From our bug-loving horticulturist, Jessica Walliser: Hose End Sprayer
“Each gardening season, I grow several dozen containers of edibles and ornamentals. Before I discovered this handy hose-end sprayer from Lee Valley Tools, I was measuring and mixing watering can after watering can of fish emulsion every time I fertilized them.
But with this sprayer, the liquid fertilizer is distributed directly to my plants along with the irrigation water. I fill the sprayer with fish emulsion and then set the dial for the amount of fertilizer to be distributed with the water. I hook it up to my hose, press the trigger, adjust the spray pattern, and fertilize away. So easy!”

From our ornamental plant aficionado, Tara Nolan: Grow-Light Indoor Garden
“When I first started sowing seeds, I put my trays in a sunny window and hoped for the best. Seedlings would grow, but I always found them to be rather spindly and delicate. I don’t currently have anywhere to put a full-sized grow light setup, so when I saw the Grow-Light Indoor Garden in the Lee Valley catalog, I bought it right away.
The kit comes with full-spectrum grow lights that can be lowered and raised as the plants grow. The whole system was easy to assemble and it even came with four containers that fit perfectly underneath. A special capillary mat under the containers wicks water up from a reservoir to water plants from the bottom. This is a great gift for anyone with a small space or new to growing from seed.”

From our year-round vegetable growing expert, Niki Jabbour: Solitary Pollen Bee Nest and Row Cover Kit
“Ok, I’m a cheater, I picked two of my favorite Lee Valley garden tools! I’m lucky, though, as I have a Lee Valley store in my hometown and I find myself there at least once a month. In fact, I got my first row cover from that Lee Valley store many years ago when I began experimenting with season extension. I still rely on Lee Valley products, like the Row Cover Kit, for my fall and winter garden. This handy kit comes with 10 metal hoops and a six-foot by 50-foot piece of plastic. It’s great for covering cool- and cold-tolerant veggies, like spinach, Asian greens, mesclun, kale, and lettuce. I’ve also found it super handy in spring when it’s time to transplant tender pepper, tomato, melon, eggplant, and artichoke seedlings. It pre-warms the soil and provides shelter from unexpected dips in temperature.”
“My second item is the Solitary Pollen Bee Nest, which I bought because I wanted to provide habitat to native pollinators in and around my veggie garden. There are a lot of these types of products on the market, but I chose this one when I saw it was approved by the Xerces Society (the international, nonprofit organization that protects wildlife through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitat).
This bee nest has various sized openings to accommodate different species, and when I noticed that my first tenants had moved it, I jumped for joy!”

I love the soil blocking kit. Was great to start all the seeds for my garden this year.
My absolute favorite tool at Lee Valley is their Hula-Ho®!
I don’t know what I’d do without it!!!
Felco pruners are great! I use them all the time on my indoor and outdoor garden.
HoMi short handle digger, I have a thing for diggers and not all fit my hands. This one looks like it would be perfect! Thank you for the nice giveaway! Good luck everyone!
Felco pruners – awesome. I need a new fork, too, and many, many more things – so much great stuff. Love Lee Valley.
Oh, where to start (because simply reading the catalog is my favourite pastime)! Tools are seasonal, so currently the Leaf Paws are working hard…. but if I had to choose justttt one… it shall be the Hoe Dag.
I could not garden without my hori hori knife!!!! It is such a much needed useful tool,I love it!! I really want row covers soon, and there is a lot more I need and want…thanks so much for the chance to win this exciting, wonderful gift !
Don’t know where the image above came from. This (hopefully) is the one I wanted to attach . . .
So many wonderful things!!!
I have to pick the Dual-Batch Rolling Composter. I have been so wanting one. Since I moved, I have not been able to compost in open bins on my new landlord’s property. The Dual-Batch Rolling Composter would solve that problem. For the past year I have felt so incredibly guilty not composting my scraps.
I also really love the Solitary Pollen Bee Nest. I think I ham going to have to scrape together enough money to buy that for myself.
Thank you for this lovely offer.
My fav garden tool is the Loop Weeder/aka The Garden Bandit. Not just for weeds. I use it for edging and trenching around the garden beds. Love the yellow – easy to spot if you forget where you placed it.
That’s one of my favorites too!
