I collect and save tons of seeds from my garden every fall, and now it’s time to find creative ways to store those garden seeds for the winter. My favorite containers for storing seeds are ones that I can get for free. It’s fun to find different types of containers to use for storing my seeds, and help keep my seed stash organized.

Here are some of my favorite containers for storing seeds.

    1. Baby food jars
    2. Spice jars
    3. Contact lens disinfecting case
    4. Pill bottles
    5. Small plastic zip top bags
    6. Paper bags
    7. DIY seed envelopes
    8. Envelopes from junk mail
    9. Small take out containers
    10. Empty hotel travel bottles

There are tons of possibilities! Use your creativity to come up with more containers you can use to store your garden seeds. Just keep in mind that if you choose to use a plastic container for seed storing, make sure the seeds are completely dry before storing them, otherwise they could mold.

    HI Amy and all – For our annual National Seed Swap Day events (see: http://seedswapday.blogspot.com/), I also recommend seed storage in glass jars – I especially like those small ketchup and jam jars you get at hotels with room service. If you have a friend who travels a lot for business, ask them to save those for you!
